VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Anaster relies upon the support of Volunteers.  Volunteers play a significant role in supporting staff and clients.  If you have the following attributes, you have just what is needed to become a Volunteer at Anaster:

Friendly, caring and a good listener
Eager to learn and comfortable with older people
Respectful of differences between us all
Can be confidential and protect others' privacy
Ability to build on your own strengths

Being a Volunteer is very rewarding and a job that cannot be taken to lightly.  All it takes is to convert some of your spare time into providing assistance to our elderly Residents.  Volunteers undertake a variety of tasks.  Here are some ways in which you may consider Volunteering.

  Assisting with group activities

Letter reading and/or writing

Hand massage

Beauty therapy

Craft work

Painting

Gardening

Playing cards/board games

Visiting a Resident with no family/friends

Helping with cooking classes

Organising theme days

Preparing memory books

Pet therapy

And much more.

The list of ways you can Volunteer is only limited by your imagination.  We provide orientation for all our Volunteers and ensure you are provided with the tools required to ensure you have quality time in whatever capacity you decided to undertake.  All Volunteers must have a National Police Clearance undertaken on a regular basis.  Anaster has recently been classified as a Volunteer Organisation and as such has the ability to obtain National Police Clearances for all their Volunteers free of charge.
